Our Marinus vineyard in upper Carmel Valley is planted with the five traditional red Bordeaux varietals. The vineyard is divided into small blocks according to grape variety, exposure and soil type. Each block has its own terroir and is farmed and hand harvested individually in order to ensure its perfect expression. These blocks are then crushed, fermented and barrel aged individually for 18 months. It is only then that the final blends are assembled.
The Signature Reserve Marinus is a blend of the very best barrels from the very best lots from a given vintage. This is decided through extensive blending/tasting trials.
During the 2006 growing season we enjoyed beautiful, mild weather and small yields in the vineyard, resulting in a bright fruit expression and structured wines
Our 2006 Reserve Marinus exhibits a beautifully deep crimson color. Aromas are bright and very youthful, showing red cherry and cranberry fruit notes, accented with cedar and spice. The palate shows very intense flavors of ripe red fruits and an excellent structure. While this wine is a wonderful to drink now, it will certainly provide pleasurable drinking for many years to come.
