Our Marinus vineyard in upper Carmel Valley is planted with the five traditional red Bordeaux varietals. It is divided into small blocks according to grape variety, exposure and soil type. Each block has its own terroir and is farmed and hand harvested individually in order to ensure its perfect expression. The grapes are then crushed, fermented and barrel aged in individual lots for 18 months. It is only then that the best barrels from the best lots are selected to be bottled as “Signature Marinus”. The best of the best!
2007 produced an excellent vintage from its long growing season graced with warm temperatures and low yields. This presented us with intensely flavored wines with beautiful fruit expression.
Our 2007 Signature Marinus exhibits a deep crimson color in the glass.
The aromas are wonderfully complex and vibrant with scents of cassis and ripe red cherry, accented by notes of cedar, cloves and cinnamon. The palate is very full and round, exploding with flavors of ripe red fruits that linger on the long, well-structured finish. While this wine is enjoyable now for its youthful power, it will develop wonderfully as it ages for many years to come.
