The 2005 Marinus is a blend of 74.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5.3% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 4.8% Petit Verdot, and 0.5% Cabernet Franc. Each was aged in French oak, 50% new, before the final blend was assembled. A bouquet of currant, black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, and smoke introduces big, rich, smooth textured flavors of the same laced with nice acidity and very fine tannin. The medium-broad, medium-long finish adds a significant amount of pepper. Well balanced, structured, and integrated. Very Good.
