The 2010 Sierra Mar Pinot Noir is a juicy, expressive wine with good richness in its dark red fruit, menthol, licorice and spices. The fleshiness of Sierra Mar comes through nicely, albeit in an understated style. Sierra Mar is a young site that is just beginning to give its first crops, so understanding the qualities of the vineyard is basically impossible at this stage, but I expected a fleshier wine, given the presence of Dijon and Pisoni clones.
