Fairview Vineyard is located in the middle of the renowned Santa Lucia Highlands. Bernardus sources two separate Pinot clones from this excellent vineyard: 667 and Pommard. The 667 brings a bold, deep red fruit character, while the Pommard clone adds complexity and tannic structure.
2009 was a wonderful year for Pinot Noir on the Central Coast providing us with deeply colored and richly flavored wines.
All our grapes are hand picked and sorted to insure the finest quality. Each clone was fermented and barrel aged separately in the finest French oak barrels. Each barrel is then tasted and evaluated before the final blend is made.
The 2009 shows a beautiful, deep color promising a rich tasting experience. On the nose, we find ripe plum and black cherry aromas along with hints of spice. The palate is wonderfully rich with flavors of ripe red fruits and framed with soft, full tannins which support the wine on a long, velvety finish.
